Star Trek: Voyager, Talaxian (Neelix's) Phaser

This is the phaser used by neelix in the scenes shot on the surface of the Ocampa Homeworld from "The Caretaker", the Voyager Series Pilot Episode. This is that exact phaser. It was made and specially painted for the outdoor (on-location) shots. There never was a functional Neelix Phaser made. The beam effects were added in during post production. This is the only one left of two talaxian Phasers made just for the Voyager pilot episode. Both were made of wood.

The other one was made for and used in the scene where the landing party beams back onto Voyager with Neelix and Kes. This other phaser can be seen in Neelix's hand while he is hugging Kes on the transporter. It was later modified into a Remote Beaming device for a different episode. This is the only Talaxian (Neelix) Phaser left in the world.
