This original Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid script was owned and used on the set by Paul Newman. He signed the script before gifting it to his makeup artist. Hand written notations regarding the screenplay can be found throughout its pages, and doodles were penned inside the back cover. The script is dated July 15, 1968 and the movie became the next year's top-grossing film.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid screenwriter William Goldman won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and the Writers Guild of America ranked the script at #11 on its list of 101 Greatest Screenplays ever written.
