Session 9, screen-used mental patient cell cut-out

original set dressing / pieces

This is a cardboard sign used in the great cult classic phychological thriller Session 9.  The whole movie was filmed in the abandoned Danvers State Hospital which is demolished now for the most part, unfortunately.  David Caruso walks into a room finding cutouts of odd pictures and quotes from newpapers and magazines used as therapy to try to rehibilitate the patient who used to reside there.  As the camera scrolls through the walls, it comes upon a cutout that says "SUDDENLY IT'S GOING TO DAWN ON YOU".  A note is played on the piano to add to the suspense as the camera focuses on the cutout.  I bought the cutout from Michael J. Turcott who fans of Danvers State Hospital might be familiar with.  He's known for his explorations of the abandoned asylum.  He visited Danvers soon after they stopped filming Session 9.  Many things were left behind because the crew didnt bring much to the set.  They just utilized what was already there.  I have a collected old paperwork, signs, a urine specimen bottle,  a spoon with the word "ASYLUM" inscribed on it, keys and a brick.  These items have been collected over the years from various people who retreived the stuff from Danvers.  Most came from Michael J. Turcott.  I tried to obtain more cutouts from the patients room, but most had become plastered to the wall due to moisture.
