Xena: Warrior Princess, Xena's Bitter Suite sword

This is one fantastic prop. This is the sword used by Lucy as Xena to kill Gabrielle in the musical episode Bitter Suite. This is the sword used by the actual actresses in the murder scene. It is crafted of painted and patinated resin as well as metal. It has a retractable point so that Lucy could "stab" Renee with it in a close up scene. It also has an inner tube with a feed hole from the outside which is known as a blood tube. Through this tube, Lucy was able to cause Renee to appear to be bleeding from her stab wound. When the stabbing occurred, the retractable tip of the sword would disapper inward giving the appearance of penetrating the stab wound, and simultaneously Lucy would have been able to queeze a concealed bladder of fake blood which was attached through the feed hole into the sword and the blood would then flow through the blood tube and out the end of the sword, giving the appearance that the tip of the sword had penetrated the flesh and the wound was bleeding.
