Frontiers of '49, Wild Bill Elliott Fringed Tunic

original movie costume

The recognizable fringed 'uniform' tunic worn by Wild Bill Elliott in his COLUMBIA outings as one of the top B Western stars of the period. This one bears a difference, in that it has two pockets, which identifes it to this film. In 1943, Elliott would join Republic Pictures and start the famed RED RYDER series, wearing a different costume for those films. Like most of the Gower Gulch actors in Westerns, once established, the costume seldom changed and became associated with him. They do differ, from film to film, in the number of stitches in the collar and pockets.
