Star Trek: The Next Generation, Wesley Crusher's Sweater(?)

I bought this (fairly inexpensive) from a party who picked it up at IAW. It is purported to be a Wesley Crusher sweater from 'The Game'. The tag is torn out (not at all uncommon). The construction of the garment definitely has studio written all over it. The problem is that the vertical pattern of the material at the shoulders does not match the horizontal pattern as seen on screen in 'The Game'. It is possible that this was an alternate, unused version - buy why do that for so small a difference? I have tried to find another episode where this might have appeared but have had no luck. The search continues. The measurements do coincide with other Wesley items from that period.
