The Warriors, Warriors War Bird Patch
original movie costume
This instantly recognizable original vintage 'war-bird' patch was created by the talented costume designer Bobbie Mannix fot the 1979 Paramount production 'The Warriors', and is belived to be one of the last surviving. The vests used in the movie just like the other props and wardrobe were recycled and used in further Paramount productions. With that said, it is known that that the studio had removed and possibly destroyed the redundant patches when the film wrapped since they were specific to that prouction. Only one original complete vest with patches is known to exist today, assumingly due to the fact that no one at the time could know the potential value in keeping and preserving such memrobillia/history. In suport of the theory that the patches were distroyed is that only but a couple have ever surfaced, backed by the fact that the vests that have come up for auction in the last 2/3 years though declared 'original' all carry non original patches. Golden Closet gives a detailed explanation as to the patches on Platos/Rembrandts vest being replaced as did even Profiles in History on their latest Cochise vest. On the bassis of this statement it is fair to say that an original patch is a rarer find than the vest its self.
