V for Vendetta, V Style Promotional Guy Fawkes Mask
replica movie prop
Item Description:
A reproduction Guy Fawkes mask sold at the premiere of V for Vendetta (2005) in Tokyo in 2006.
Background Information:
The masks were manufactured in China and sold at respective theatre entrances in Japan for ¥1000, or ~$10 USD with a movie ticket. Viewers were able to wear them during the film and when Mr. Hugo Weaving and production members made a visit.
Prop Details:
The mask is vacuum-formed from a hero mask similar to the civilian crowd masks. It’s formed from an approximately 1mm thick white plastic sheet, and has a black elastic band that measures ~0.6”. It is completely airbrushed and not hand-painted. It is finished with a glossy coat for the base paint and matte for the hair areas.
The eyes and mouth are punctured from a die machine, with the eye punches being out-of-place, most prominently on the right side. The back of the mask exposes the white plastic as well and has three grey foam pads for comfort. It originally comes with a cardboard top and plastic packaging.
Bonus Information:
It's unknown how many were made, but they're proved to be quite limited as they're hard to find for sale.
