Book covers like this were made to jacket Susan Orlean’s (Meryl Streep) novel, The Orchid Thief. The book is featured throughout the movie, notably when Charlie Kaufman (Nicolas Cage) speaks to the photo of Susan Orlean on the back cover and her face changes as he talks. This cover is one of the unused versions made by production and consists of an unfolded sheet of printed sateen textured card. It features a blue/black background with the book’s title and a picture of an orchid on the front section, and a photo of Orlean alongside a short history and reviews on the back section.
