This full-scale prop-replica was the first communicator I added to my collection.  I bought it at a small shop in NYC which has long since closed its doors (Federation Outpost, circa 1978).  The replica is static, with no electronics.  The metal antenna flips open, but that's the only working feature.  The interesting thing is that it features LEDs and not 'gem stone' indicators.  A great little item from very early in my Star Trek collecting days.
