TITANIC - ORIGINAL WHITE STAR LINE PASSENGER DECK CHAIR. This prop was used in the deck scenes where passengers such as Jack & Rose would sit and pass the time. These chairs were produced in extremely limited numbers and most were destroyed in repeated takes of scenes where the vessel sinks. These fully functional prop chairs were made to historical specifications and exactly matched the deck chairs that were originally used on the TITANIC herself. Of course, it bears the White Star Line insignia carved into the head rest. This prop is the only known remaining deck chair that was used in the sinking scenes, in so doing it sustained damage from the salt water during filming. Amazingly, it survived the sinking and was rescued before it was completely destroyed. The cane seat – which is normally the first part of the chair to incur damage – has come away from the frame in a small corner area. Aside from this, it is in very good condition for what it must have endured. We also have in our collection one of the only surviving movie prop deck chairs used as a set prop and not tossed into the briny deep (please refer to another of our listings).
