Another "major set prop"...the original Iron Maiden prop (Eiserne Jungfrau) from the TV Classic THE ADDAMS FAMILY, usually seen in the playroom and occasionally the living room (later episodes- second season). This particular prop was the "primary" Iron Maiden used in production, seen in the most episodes where a Maiden was used as a backround set piece (which was MOST AF episodes!). This vintage Hollywood floor prop was also used in other horror film/TV show "torture chambers" including the Addams' rival TV family, THE MUNSTERS. It eventually ended up in the Hollywood Wax Museum's torture chamber exhibit-which was removed from the museum several years ago. This striking Iron Maiden is seen in several Hollywood productions. The piece is modeled after a classic (supposedly real) torture device out of 1500s Nuremburg Germany. Lined with spikes, the Maiden was designed to mame and cause lengthy agony. The bloody, hapless victim hangs spiked inside, being pulled down by gravity, and slowly bleeding to death into a confession.
