Superman Flyby, Superman: JJ Abrams version original script rare

original production material

Superman (2002) JJ Abrams Original Screenplay - Sometimes unproduced scripts hold an even greater interest and fascination than a complete feature. One of the most infamous is the 2002 screenplay by now legendary director JJ Abrams for his vision of \"Superman\". This was written long before Bryan Singer\'s \"Superman Returns\" (2006), or the \"back-to-the-origin\" storytelling of Zack Snyder’s \"Man of Steel\" (2013). Abrams version wanted to show a more complex Clark Kent/Superman. More psychologically realistic. In his version he pondered just what any being would feel, when he comes to a new civilization, having the power of the God\'s, but told not to show them. The obvious metaphor of any \"alien\" coming to live in a country and dealing with both cultural clashes, and prejudice was not at all lost on Abrams. The fact that in his script, Kent had to constantly \"limit\" his potential spoke volumes to a new generation of the 21st Century. Lots of promo was released when this film was announced, but it never was made. This is one of the original production scripts with the security code stamped on ever page. It comes from the personal collection of actor Richard Edson, who was sent the script to discuss playing one of the characters. This is Abrams\' First Draft (July 26th, 2002). Title page is slightly wrinkled from use.
