Star Trek: The Next Generation, Starfleet Data Monitor

original production artwork

This is from a group of drawings that aren't as fully detailed or colored or as glamorous as the main renderings from Star Trek, but they are still part of the production history. They were used to get producer approval, and maybe they weren't picked (though some were), but the concepts we all know from the shows and films had to start somewhere. The bottom line is that you can have a piece of media SF artwork for a lot less.

This is an 11"x17" original pen and ink drawing for a Starfleet-styled data display for the episode "Schizoid Man." The housing was built to surround a stock 20" Sony CRT (CRT? What's that?). That monitor weighed a ton, but in the era before flat screens, we used these to play back computer animation. This one-of-a-kind prop was designed by, and is from the collection of your seller, Star Trek TNG and Voyager Senior Illustrator Rick Sternbach. Drawing is signed in the lower right. Drawing will be countersigned in gold and a letter of authenticity provided.
