Lemony Snickets' A Series of Unfortunate Events, Spyglass

original movie prop

A spyglass from Brad Silberling's family adventure film Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. In the film, three orphaned children are left in the care of their supposed cousin Count Olaf (Jim Carrey), who only has eyes on their fortune. Spyglasses are seen throughout the film as part of hinting at the secret organization the Baudelaire children's parents and their "cousins" were a part of. The Baudelaires receive a spyglass from their parents as a "rite of passage" according to Lemony Snicket. Made for the production, the spyglass is made of brass and can extend. Upon extension of the spyglass, the letters "V," "F" and "D" and the eye symbol are embossed along the body.
