Robin of Sherwood, Soldiers Crossbow Bolt. Series 1/2

original movie prop weapon

Blunt, wooden crossbow bolt picked up from the floor on location of filming The Enchantment at Chepstow Castle, South Wales (Series 2,1984)

The sequence involved Robin (Praed) and his men sneaking in to Castle Belleme and being confronted by the Sheriff's men.

A side note, showing that the scenes were not filmed entirely in order - when the crossbowmen first fire on the outlaws, only one soldier carries

a pouch on his belt. There are no bolts inside. Once he's fired his bolt, the next scene shows one in his pouch. The below photo is an action still and shows

same soldier with a pouch full of bolts. I believe mine is one of those and is screen accurate.

It was given to me by one of the cameramen who'd kept it for years. Although attributed to this episode scene it's likely to have also been used throughout the first two years of production.

Two types seem to have been used. When needing a close up, metal/resin ones were used which looked smaller and more dart-like.
