Robin of Sherwood, Screen used Albion Hero Sword

This is one of few remaining Albion swords from the landmark British series, Robin of Sherwood.

It was used extensively throughout Series 2 and Series 3, by both Robins (Michael Praed and Jason Connery)

After the first series, Robin\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s sword, gifted to him by Herne the Hunter, had to be changed to cope with the stresses of the action sequences. The first series Albion was problematic for many reasons. The wire wrapped handle, and the \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"jewelled\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" bezel adornments on the hilt which was severely cutting into the actors hand. The necessity of needing an additional 6 identical swords with inscriptions finally prompted the prop department to come up with a redesign which carried through until the show finished in 1986.

Used for all the action sequences through the last two years, and most often seen on screen, this version of Albion has markedly different blade geometry (secondary bevel) to the \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Wayland style\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" Albion, used for close up camera shots and for which the other six swords of Wayland were copied from. 

This is probably one of two known to have survived. The blade is mostly very clean, but bares obvious dings and nicks from where other blades have made contact and bit heavily into the blades edge. What stories this blade could tell!
