Gladiator, Screen Used Rubber Stunt Club

original movie prop

A rubber stunt club used in Ridley Scott’s Academy Award winning epic Gladiator.

Betrayed by his Emperor’s son Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) and sold into slavery, Roman general Maximus (Russell Crowe) finds his calling in the arena as a gladiator. But when a festival of games begins in Commodus’ honour, Maximus returns to Rome with thoughts of revenge for his lost Emperor and family. Members of the Roman legion carried this style of club as they battled the barbarians on the front in Germania under the command of Maximus. The club is made of rubber with a metal armature within the main body and the middle of the piece is slightly waved. The entire piece has been finished in brown paint and displays wood grain detailing, distressed to create a battle worn appearance.
