I built this full scale prop replica from a Roddenberry kit. The entire kit is cast resin. There were no "official" electronics, so I improvised my own. Both the P-II and removable P-I units have light and sound effects. While this is basically the same resin casting used to make the R. Coyle ST-III Phaser, mine works differently. My P-I and P-II units work independantly and are not linked like the R. Coyle version. I used yellow LEDs for the 'phaser beams' to more closely resemble the orange-yellow beam seen on-screen. The P-I trigger stud on my version lights up and changes color and the four (4) red indicators on the left side light up when the P-I is fired (because the P-I & P-II aren't linked, the indicators do not light when the P-II is fired).
