Son Of Paleface, Roy Rogers Stembridge Gun

original movie prop weapon

A 1910 Colt New Service revolver, with rifle stock and 19 inch barrel, made by Stembridge Gun Rentals, then housed on the Paramount lot, used by Roy Rogers as the weapon hidden in his guitar. Near the end of the film, Roy and co star Bob Hope are trapped inside a ghost town barber shop with Indians attacking. Bob remarks that Roy must be some kind of agent to be caught without a gun. It is then, Roy picks up his guitar, opens the front and reveals this gun and fires many blanks to ward off the attackers, with the help of Jane Russell. It is marked with the Stembridge S, and recorded by serial number as being part of the Petersen Museum collection, who bought the Stembridge star weapons in 1998, after the company closed, and resold them in 2007. This gun was cataloged to be made for BATMAN (1989).
