This is an original preliminary production drawing of the compression phaser rifle used on Star Trek Voyager. According to artist Rick Sternbach, "This is an original pen and ink drawing for a Starfleet Type IV phaser rifle that would eventually be called the compression phaser rifle. This version is close to the final design, prior to the addition of the big cylindrical plasma module on the back end."
