The Story of Louis Pasteur, Paul Muni Tux Coat

original movie costume

Black, formal, 19th Century tailcoat worn by Muni in WB's bio pic of the great scientist. Seen in an early scene where he visits the King, and in the final sequence, when as an old man, his achievements are finally recognized by the Science Academy. Later alterations include the added velour collar and the removal of the two satin half covers on the lapels. Where they were is easily seen.  The picture won two Academy awards for writing, and Muni won for Best Actor. Of the mere 21 films he appeared, he was nominated in that category six times, a feat made more amazing in that he was passed over for SCARFACE and THE GOOD EARTH.
