This is a later (mid 1990s) attempt at producing a vacu-formed model of a TOS Type-I Phaser.  It's a bit closer in scale to the original props than my first version, but some of the details aren't as good (the waffle-pattern electron aspirator grid for example). Like my vsn-1 model, this has light (red LED) and sound (still bad) and fires from a top-mounted trigger.  The power read-out dome is vacu-formed clear acetate as on the vsn-1.  The 'side rails' on this vsn are hand-cut / hand shaped aluminum sheet metal. The phaser in the photos was built as a proto-type (which is why I wasn't fussy about the details) and I kept it in my collection after deciding not to produce any others.
