Moontrap, Original Steven Craig's Personal Screenplay

original production material

Steven Craig was one of the credited Film Editors on the science fiction feature film MOONTRAP. This is one of Steven Craig's personal "reading" copies of the screenplay MOONTRAP. A half dozen copies were provided to Steven Craig's company, Buck Rogers Film Editing Services in early 1988 by Robert Dyke (producer/director) for evaluation of our participation in this project. MOONTRAP screenplay by Tex Ragsdale, story by Tex Ragsdale and Robert H. Dyke. This copy is dated December, 1987 and marked as the Sixth Draft, although there are numerous update pages throughout. The script is in excellent shape with only light handling, although there are some notations throughout. It runs 90+ pages long. Also including a copy of the never produced 9-page MOONTRAP Prologue dated 6/19/88 and marked as the 3rd Draft. First Director's cut of the film was a little short at 84 minutes, the contract with the distributor guaranteed a 90 minute feature. Bob and Tex came up with this Prologue as a possibility of getting the film over 90 minutes, but there were no funds to do it. The prologue takes us back 10,000 years to the final battle on the Moon and leaves us with an insight into how Mera ended up in the stasis chamber. Some argued that it gave too much info away.
