The Twilight Zone, Original Oil Painting From 'The Shelter' S.3

original set dressing / pieces

An original oil painting from MGM's prop department used in numerous films/TV including the classic 'Twilight Zone' (1959–1964) in episode 68 'The Shelter' (1961). Other productions it was used in include 'Please Don't Eat the Daisies' (Doris Day 1960), 'The Opposite Sex' (June Allyson 1956), 'The Power and the Prize' (Robert Taylor 1956), The Rack (Paul Newman 1956), Ransom! (Glenn Ford 1956), 'Angel, Angel, Down We Go' (Roddy McDowall 1969) and can be seen in episodes of season 2 and 3 of the TV show Peter Gunn (1958–1961) starring Craig Stevens.

In this 3rd episode from season 3 of 'The Twilight Zone' a suburban dinner party is interrupted by a bulletin warning of an impending nuclear attack. As the neighbors scramble to prepare themselves, they turn against the one family that installed a permanent bomb shelter. Often thought of as among the finest episodes.

Just recently back from the restorers where it had a cleaning and slight touchups on the frame.
