Star Trek: The Next Generation, Modified Klingon Hyposyringe

original movie prop

In fourth season episode The Drumhead, a Klingon scientist working as an exchange officer aboard the Enterprise is suspected of acting as a spy for the Romulans. Lieutenant Worf discovers that this hyposyringe, allegedly used by the Klingon to treat a medical condition, in actuality has been fitted with a micro-miniaturized optical chip reader and protein synthesizer.  Using this device, computer data can be converted into coded amino acid sequences and then injected into the body, where the inert proteins remain undetectable until specifically recovered and decoded.

Painted cast metal grip, machined brass control collar, and machined aluminum shaft, with multiple added painted metal pieces, buttons, wires and springs. Appears to be largely or entirely made from found items. No moving parts or electronics.
