Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi, Miniature Death Star Section

original model / miniature

An original Death Star section used in the production of the 1983 science fiction picture Return of the Jedi, the third instalment of the original Star Wars trilogy directed by Richard Marquand.

This is an original piece of acid etched brass that was custom-made for use on the miniature Death Star that is seen under construction. The etched brass sections were layered and attached to the model to represent the exposed interior structure of the Death Star that gave the model a very realistic unfinished appearance on screen. This unique piece was salvaged from the ILM model shop nearly four decades ago. It measures approximately 4.5cm / 1.75"x 5cm / 1.95"

I cleant the oxydation points on my death star sections. I used white vinegar and a cuetip to gently remove the oxydation (do it very gently, and at your own risks! dry it carefully) I did it on my death star pieces with success (no more green color, it turned redish below). But I believe it would stop the brass oxydation from spreading. [by televore ]
