This is an original vintage Metro Goldwyn Mayer metal lion statuette or paperweight produced for MGM by A.C. Rehberger, reportedly in the 1930’s.

They were first made for Leo, the Lion's worldwide tour in 1928, which lasted until 1934. There are newspaper articles which mention the small bronze lions as giveaways from the Advance Team truck that would come to town about a week before Leo's truck and prepare the ballyhoo and events.

The phrase that appears in raised letters on both sides is “Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Lion Your Lucky Star ”.

The total length from the tip of the lion’s nose to the back edge of the base is about 5 inches, the width is about 2.5 inches and the height is about 3.25 inches.
