The Island, Merrick Biotech Hook Dart Gun

This weapon was one of the major stars of The Island, once Bay dispensed with any pretense of a story and got to the chase scenes and breaking glass. Memorably used by security personnel to retrieve escaping clone Starkweather Two Delta by firing darts into his calves (ouch!) and reeling him back. (Regular projectile weapons are unacceptable due to risk of damage to the product.) Also used by Merrick himself when hunting Lincoln Six Echo.

This hero piece had the functioning underbarrel flashlight and red activation LED when I received it. From the movie, though, it was quite clear that all the heroes also had green lasers. Turned out to be a very easy fix - just resoldering a connection - and the laser is back!

Unfortunately, the hook darts do not fire. However, it is interesting that, if you plug an adaptor jack into a port on the butt, both right and left reels at the back start spinning wildly. I am inclined to believe this indicates that the darts at one time did fire, with cables attached, as seen in the movie.
