After Earth, Kitai's (Jaden Smith) Cadet Training Costume

This costume was custom-made by the production for use by Jaden Smith as “Kitai”. The costume consists of grey coveralls with textured pattern on the shoulders, arms sides and legs, grey/black gloves and a pair of leather boots. This costume was worn by Jaden Smith in the Training scenes at the begining of the movie.The costumes worn by Jaden in After Earth were designed and made by Costume Designer Amy Westcott (who worked closely with Ironhead Studio in developing Jaden Smith’s various costumes) and were called ‘Life Suits’ . After Earth was Amy Westcott’s first attempt at a sci-fi feature. The costume have a stingray skin badge on the chest, because The Ranger Corps´ ships were derived from stingrays. The boots are a extension of the suit, but avoiding the one piece look. According to Amy Westcott " The biggest challenge with the boots was making them appropriate for all terrains. He was climbing wet trees, parkouring off rocks and doing a ton of running. They also had to be very comfortable, lightweight, and I wanted them to be clear urethane. No existing sole covered all the bases, so we made our own" Included with the costume is a production used costume tag that details the change and scene numbers used.
