The Girl Can't Help It, Jayne Mansfield Fashion Doll

original production material

A 20 inch workroom mannequin or fashion doll of Jayne Mansfield wearing costume elements from this film. She is jointed at the neck, shoulders and waist for posing. These small mannequins were used by studio designers for decades for proposed costumes. In 1957 the Motion Picture Costumers started an annual contest to recognize the best of these to be awarded an "Adam and Eve" statue. Editors of fashion magazines were the judges. Below are images of Eve Marie Saint with the "RAINTREE COUNTY" MGM submissions for 1957 and a 1937 image of a very young Betty Grable with her mannequin.
