Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi, Jabba Sail Barge Swatch

original movie prop

A swatch of Jabba’s the Hut’s barge sail seen in Return of the Jedi. Designed by a nautical expert, the sails were actually fully functional pieces which meant they needed to be furled up whenever the winds swept up, to make sure the set wasn’t ripped apart by the force. Because the material turned out to be so robust, ILM cut the sails from the set in Buttercup Valley once filming had completed in 1982 to be used as sand bags, some of which was acquired by the Prop Store and is presented here in this custom built display
