This sword is a replica of the katana used in the second movie. This handle is a direct pull out of the production mould used to make the swords for the movie. With a T10 steel blade with real hamon its not only an exact replica prop, its a formidable weapon. With a kevlar/carbon fiber core it can withstand the rigors of martial arts use and cutting practice.
Here's a slightly longer shot of the hilt. Notice the small flaws in the hilt, these were present in the hero prop of the film. Truly the most accurate Highlander replica to date!
