Star Trek: Voyager, Hero (Static) Boomerang Phaser

original movie prop weapon

This is the pre-First Contact hero boomerang phaser from Voyager. All hero boomerang phasers before FC (and many after) had no electronics. This particular example was sent all shiny to the set of Voyager, placed on the costume uniform of a background actor who had to draw the phaser over and over during many takes, and it survived for (almost) the entire day! Late in the shoot the actor became a bit too enthusiastic and sloppy. He cracked the holster when drawing the prop, then lost his grip and sent it flying and it became scratched. It was his first day on set. And his last day on set. (No wonder there were so many faces on a ship with supposedly only 140+ people.) The prop w/holster was returned to the maker for 'repair' - what really happened was a swap-out. The vintage Vietnam-era, hardened steel belt holders (alice clips) were salvaged for use on a new holster.
The cracked-at-the-seam holster sans the salvaged clips.

UPDATE: This prop was later used in an episode of The Big Bang Theory - 'The Bakersfield Expedition' (Episode 13, Season 6).  Upon close examination of the episode it appears that this prop was used by both 'Raj' (Kunal Nayyar) and 'Leonard' (Johnny Galecki).  I supplied nearly two identical props for the two characters but there was a slight variance with this prop and it shows up on both characters as they were re-dressed as their costumed appearance deteriorated through the episode.
