The Adventures of Mark Twain, Groper the Frog Puppet

original movie prop

The film features a series of skits extracted from several of Mark Twain's works; while built around a plot that features Twain's attempts to keep his "appointment" with Halley's Comet. The story follows Twain and three children, Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and Becky Thatcher, on an airship between various adventures. This is a screen used Groper the Frog puppet used in the scene depicted from the Twain story: "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County".  Made with a internal armature, the puppet is made entirely of clay and is poseable. Still in excellent condition considering it's film use and age, this is a remarkable piece obtained from Will Vinton Studios now known as Laika.
