A Dictograph 7 lever intercom system from the 1930s, owned by Goldwyn Studios, per the metal plate underneath. Goldwyn's name is also the second one on the console.
This unit was the standard of the industry for interoffice communications and was even used for eavesdropping on meetings. It is wood with a bakelite handset and cradle. During it's time at the Studio, DODSWORTH, WUTHERING HEIGHTS, MARCO POLO and THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES, among others, were made.
