The Colour of Magic, Gold Rhinu Coin

original movie prop

A Gold Rhinu Coin from the TV movie The Colour of Magic. These are original props from the show, and were part of only 50 coins that were made for the filming. These were sculpted and cast in the prop making workshop in Pinewood studios and then sent out for electroplating..

A rhinu was the currency of the Agatean Empire. They are large golden coins, and are worth a relatively low amount in the Agatean Empire, as gold is abundant on the counterweight continent. This disparity of value causes the tourist Twoflower to greatly overpay others while on his trip. This would cause bewilderment as often as it would provoke rather violent reactions; ironically, to some citizens of Ankh-Morpork the fine gold rhinu looked nothing like the watered-down low-karat gold they were used to seeing, and they mistook Twoflower\\\'s money for worthless counterfeits.

The Colour of Magic was broadcast on Sky One, and in High Definition on Sky One HD, on Easter Sunday (March 23) and March 24 2008
