James Bond: You Only Live Twice, Gentex Little Nellie flying helmet

original movie prop

A rare survivor from 1967. One of two helmets created by trhe late great John Stears  for use by actor Sean Connery while sitting in Little Nellie G-AVDB at Pinewood Studios and G-ARZB on location. This particular helmet is screen matched by the serial number on the lens and minor damage to the cine cameras plus other undisclosed details to the helmet worn by Sean while filming rear projection images at Pinewood Studios. The helmet was purchased from an aviation dealer in Catertham in the UK in 1990 who in turn had purchased or had been gifted it? by Ken Wallis after a clear out of his hangar of unwanted items! Previous to this the last time the helmet had been seen was back in 1967 as part of a window display of screen seen props from You Only Live Twice in Selfridges Department Store in London. The helmet can clearly be seen inside the Little Nellie engine component transport case next to the undercarriage and tubular frame transport case. Skip forward to 2020 and the helmet was reunited with said case while on loan to EON Productions Ltd at The Bond in Motion exhibition in London.
