A map to a mysterious treasure, described only as 'The Heart', is received by romance novelist Joan Wilder from her sister Elaine, who is subsequently kidnapped. Wilder travels to Colombia to ransom her sister, with the help of an adventurer intent on deciphering the map and claiming its prize.
