Singin' In The Rain, Donald O'Connor Capezio Tap Shoes

original movie costume

Donald O'Connor Capezio tap shoes, sold at his estate as being from SINGING IN THE RAIN. Three years after he passed, his family sold the contents of the Sedona house 'garage sale' style instead of at an auction venue. Over the course of three days, 3,000 people filed in and everything was sold. The fortunate few, who attended the first day according to press reports, bought all the good items, including these tap shoes, his piano and his beloved Rolls. The shoes are custom made, Capezio Hollywood, well worn with recessed tap area. These may well have been the shoes he wore during the Foley stage of postproduction, and match the type of shoe he wore during the 'Good, Morning' number. They also match his shoes from ANYTHING GOES and WALKING MY BABY BACK HOME. Obviously, a dancer of his caliber would have several pairs of his favorite tap shoe.
