Petty Officer Danny Dietz's (Emile Hirsch) Backpack, Tactical Vest and Accessories from Peter Berg's 2013 film "Lone Survivor." Based on true events for which Dietz, a U.S. Navy SEAL, was awarded the Navy Cross for valorous actions in battle. Dietz can be seen wearing the backpack and tactical rig throughout the film. Both items in this set have been labeled for use by Dietz, with the backpack bearing the inscription "Di" and the tactical rig featuring "DIETZ 2."
To guarantee the accuracy of the film, SEAL Team 10 Operation Red Wings survivor Marcus Luttrell was brought in to supervise the use and display of all tactical gear. Manufactured by Lion Industries, Dietz's backpack is a medium size combat field pack made for military and tactical purposes. Similar to a hiking backpack, this item features a metal frame with a lower back support and is made from nylon with numerous adjustable straps and compartments. The compartments have been stuffed with foam to give the bag shape. This item has been production distressed with dirt and grime, and includes a few straps that have been wrapped in tan colored tape, giving the piece a weathered appearance.
Worn around Dietz's chest is a tactical vest made by Condor. This rig features numerous compartments for ammunition and accessories, and like the backpack, has been distressed by production with dirt and stage blood stains. This rig features several accessories including a hollow metal grenade, Blackhawk carabiner, and a rubber SOG specialty knife.
This lot features wear from production distressing and stunt work, with the tactical rig showing extensive use of stage blood. Both items are in excellent used condition. Acquired from The Prop Store of London and Los Angeles in June 2014, with accompanying certificate of authenticity.
I have donated these items to the Navy Seal Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida. Please look for them on display!
