CSI: NY, Danica Patrick as Liza Gray Racing Firesuit
original movie costume
This firesuit was custom-made for wear by the character "Liza Gray," played by NASCAR and Indy racer Danica Patrick, in episode 15 of season 6, "The Formula." Patrick has 3 scenes in the episode in which she wears this style of firesuit, and she's the only character who does so--even her pit crew wears a different style. It's in a wider-hipped, narrower-waisted women's cut.
In attempting to screen-match this firesuit, based on patch placement relative to seams & other landmarks, it became apparent that for the 2nd of her scenes wearing the firesuit, a nearly-identical firesuit with slightly different patch placement was worn; in her 3rd scene with it, the patch placement & seam lines on this firesuit could be consistent with wider full-body and 3/4 shots, but are definitely inconsistent with close-up shots. In her 1st scene wearing this style of firesuit, she's sitting in an indycar for the entire time; so, there's no way to know if she's wearing this exact suit or its twin. This particular suit may or may not have been worn in Scene 1, was definitely not worn in Scene 2, and could have been worn for some shots in Scene 3 but definitely not in others. So, I can only say that this was production-made for Danica Patrick, but may or may not have been screen-used. There are signs of wear, including slight discoleration to the white fabric in the seat area, and a possible small oil stain to the rear of one leg. This makes me suspect that it may have been worn in the indycar in Scene 1; but, this is just supposition.
At any rate, it's a high-quality firesuit custom-made for wear by Danica Patrick, with production date codes on the rear collar which match the onscreen codes, and is likely one of only 2 or 3 of its style to exist. Danica Patrick race-worn firesuits rarely come to market, and the few records I've seen of them place them as $7000+ items. A Danica firesuit made for promotional purposes but never used by her sold recently for $1500, while regular used firesuits of this type are typically $700+ items, just as safety equipment.
This item was originally sold through the It's-A-Wrap Hollywood retail store, which doesn't issue COAs, soon after the show wrapped and liquidated its wardrobe.
