A mixed media concept poster for the 1982 Arnold Schwarzenegger classic Conan The Barbarian. This alternative design to the regular poster art was created to be a promotional poster for the movie, perhaps as a full page media advert as productions of that era frequently produced a variety of different designs for advertising. As such the unreleased design makes it a truly unique piece.
The artwork is a combination of elements, starting with a print of renowned fantasy artist Boris Vallejo original hand drawn artwork that features Conan and Valeria atop a mountain, with a rearing snake, Thulsa Doom's imposing headdress and glowing backdrop, layered with a cut out of the classic title logo and black and white credits, finished with the dramatic tag line in white letraset lettering. The rear is stamped 'Rosebud Studios, Inc., of New York, and comes presented in a wooden display frame with cream mount board that measures 54cm x 79cm (21.25” x 31”). It is in good condition with some minor wear to the frame only.
