Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World, Compsognathus "Compy" Puppet

original movie prop

“Sure, it might look cute to someone, but this little dinosaur, called Compsognathus, or Compy, is a vicious carnivore.”

A research team is sent to the Jurassic Park Site B to study the dinosaurs there, while an InGen team approaches with another agenda. From the 1997 film The Lost World: Jurassic Park, this is a Compsognathus "Compy" puppet screen used in the film and made by Stan Winston Studios. One could look at this tiny theropod and think of it as unimportant given its size and appearance. But as one unfortunate hunter had learned the hard way; while a Compy may look harmless when alone it can be very dangerous in groups. They can be found living on the islands Nublar along with Sorna, and ranks among the smallest (and deadliest) dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. Intelligent and very active, this dinosaur nicknamed “Compy” by the Park's workers; usually travels in packs able to chase, tire and eventually devour animals alive larger than themselves. It has been confirmed that they produce a mild venom, although it is not powerful enough to cause serious harm to an adult human. "Compys" are featured in the memorable scene in which the cruel "Stark" sadistically shocks one of these small dinosaurs only to be descended upon and ultimately devoured by a pack of the deadly creatures.
