Cast Away, Chuck's (Tom Hanks) Rubber Tipped Spear

Chuck's (Tom Hanks) rubber tipped spear   used in the Robert Zemeckis 2000 dramatic adventure film Cast Away. This piece was used by the sole survivor aboard the plane crash after surviving for four years as a castaway, spearing fish and crabs for food, and would have been used when the spear needed to be thrown and ensure no injuries or damage occurred.

It is crafted from a hard rubber over an internal support, painted brown to resemble wood and covered in intricate 'carvings' added by Chuck over the years, ending in a softer and slightly flexible cream rubber tip decorated to look like pale exposed wood. Sadly the top section that would have featured the frayed tip has since been lost, either through use on set or post production. It measures approximately 142cm (56”) and is in good production used condition with light wear and cracks to the paint across the malleable soft rubber tip.Coa from Prop Store
