Gladiator, Cavalry Sword

original movie prop weapon

Gladiator » Roman Cavalry Sword Used in the film "Gladiator" A rare prop Roman cavalry sword used in the epic Ridley Scott film "Gladiator" starring: Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielsen, Oliver Reed & Richard Harris. The sword was used during the opening battle of Germania and was used by the Roman Cavalry, as the battle heats up the cavalry riders lead by Maximus charge behind the Barbarians, its during this scene you can see the cavalry units carrying & holding these swords. The swords are similar to the Roman infantry swords but are much longer, the sword & sheath are in excellent condition with apparent signs of use, the blade is made from aluminum and measures 30 ½" (77 cm) and has an overall length of 39 ½" (100 cm) The sword features the distinctive styled wooden hilt/handle that has been stained with a nice wood grain finish, the sheath is made from wood with a thick dyed canvas wrapped around, the sheath also features a metal section at the top that has a leather carry strap with metal claps. So far, I have yet to see any other sword like this one in the condition that its in. I mounted it in an custom wood display in my office. Please inquire. Made in England.
