Pulp Fiction, Captain Koons Watch

replica movie prop

In one of the most memorable scenes from a movie full of memorable scenes, Christopher Walken as USAF Captain Koons presents an old watch to young Butch Coolidge. As the Captain tells the tale, the watch was first purchased by Butch's great grandfather, who wore it in World War I, passed on to his grandfather, who wore it in World War II, and was on the wrist of his father when his plane was shot down over North Vietnam and he was captured. Taken to a Hanoi prison camp, Butch's father, and then Koons, hid this watch to keep it from being confiscated. Where did they hide it?

"in one place he knew he could hide something: HIS ASS. Five long years, he wore this watch - up his ass. Then.. he died of dysentery, gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable hunk of metal up my ass, two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch... to you."

This is a vintage WWI Lancet trench watch of the same model as Butch's Birthright, in sterling. Porcelain dial, Mercedes hands, onion crown, fixed wire lugs.
