The Ten Commandments, Box of 300 Original 1923 Production and Pre-Production backed Stills of Cecil B. DeMille’s “The Ten

original production material

This is an incredible collection of 300 original 1923 production and pre-production stills of Cecil B. DeMille’s “The Ten Commandments”. Filmed in 1923 during the height of the Epic Silent Film classics, this was the largest and most expensive movie to make. Long before green screens and computer aided filming, everything had to be created that was seen on-screen. Cecil B. DeMille originally wanted to film his Epic movie in Egypt but the Studio declined in order to help control Production costs. DeMille ended up creating his huge set on the sandy shores of the Central Coast of California. This huge collection documents the film from set and costume construction through its actual filming. All stills were paper backed in 1923 indicating this set was specially put together.
