This is the real, original Bird Cage Grave Marker Screen Used/Matched in Stephen King's Pet Sematary. Definitely the most distinct and recognizable Grave Marker of the bunch. Can be clearly seen in the opening credits when the camera shows the various grave markers in the Pet Cemetary. Can also be clearly seen when Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynn) gives a tour of the Pet Cemetary for the Creed family.
Here's the story of the original buyer of the Cage after production.... "In the late 80s, I was making independent films in Maine. I also applied to work on several Stephen King adaptations that were shot here. While I did not get hired for Pet Sematary, I met several people who did. After the production was finished, someone who worked in the prop department told me of the items, I bought the horse grave marker. Over the years, I displayed it in my stores (in Mattawamkeag, Brewer, Ellsworth and finally, where it is now, Downtown Bangor) We get many SK fans in that store. Anyway, about 5 years ago, the same guy I know came in and saw the horse marker and said, "I still have the birdcage, do you want to buy it".... Then I had two cool SK displays, I've turned down many offers over the years, but I'm closing up my final shop and want these awesome pieces to find a good home. Hope this long story answers your question. and thanks again"
