Gladiator, Battle of Carthage Arena Helmet

This Persian style Battle of Carthage helmet is screen matched to the scene where the camera pans the armour table below the arena. It is labeled for one of the credited stuntmen in the scene. The aging to these helmets is custom to each one - no two were the same. It is exceptionally well made of fiberglass, leather, metallic ornamentation, and metal mail. The helmet is fully lined and has the additional felt liner (which is rare). The finish makes the helmet look and feels like metal - fools people that hold it. The name inscribed on the leather band inside the helmet is that of the credited stuntman - as there were several helmets of this type used in this scene, and filming took place over many days, costume components were labeled in this simple way to maintain continuity.
